The Russian Figure Skating Championships, organized by the Figure Skating Federation, will be held in Omsk from December 18 to 23.
The annual competition includes performances by singles, ice dancing, and pairs. This event plays an important role for athletes, as the results influence the formation of the national team that represents Russia at international competitions of various levels.
A limited number of athletes participate in the championship: 18 men and the same number of women in singles, 15 pairs in ice dancing, and only 12 pairs in pairs. The best figure skaters of the country perform at this competition.

At different times, a whole list of famous figure skaters received the title of Russian Champion, including Maria Butyrskaya, Sofia Akateva, Irina Slutskaya, Anna Shcherbakova, Evgenia Medvedeva, Adelina Sotnikova, Alina Zagitova, Adelia Petrosyan, Alexandra Trusova. The Russian Championship usually takes place in winter, at the end of December or the beginning of January.
In different years, the competitions were held in Saransk, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg. Omsk will host the championship for the first time, and the G-Drive Arena sports complex will be the venue.
The following will compete in the men's singles: Mark Kondratyuk, Mikhail Kolyada, Evgeni Semenenko, Evgeni Plushenko, Maxim Kovtun. Among the pairs, the following have achieved impressive results: Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, Tatyana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin, Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze.
