About event

Tournament of show programs "Russian Challenge" will be held on March 22 and 23, 2025 at the Yubileiny Sports Complex. in St. Petersburg.

For the third time we will witness one of the most exciting events of the season - a tournament of show programs, which are held under the general name “Russian Challenge”. Different skaters, programs, pairs and singles, united by one idea - to show all the riches of our country. Unique nature and huge cities, brilliant artists, writers, musicians and scientists, great victories and discoveries, cinema and legendary athletes - all this is our country, our past, present and future.

The wonderful idea of a show program tournament appeared in 2023 and immediately found a lively response from both skaters and spectators. Tickets to the Russian Challenge show program tournament are a rare opportunity to see performances by both young skaters - those who are at the peak of their careers, and recognized world-class stars who have already completed their career in sports Thus, Alexey Yagudin became a two-time winner of the tournament, and among the participants were Alexey Tikhonov, Maxim Marinin with Tatyana Totmyanina, Evgenia Medvedeva, Alina Zagitova.

To become a participant in the show program tournament, you need to submit an application, but Olympic champions and world champions do not qualify - they are admitted automatically.

It is also interesting that the participants are judged by people who are far from sports. For example, the jury members were actor Sergei Bezrukov, ballet dancers Kim Kimin and Nikolai Tsiskaridze, and choreographer Boris Eifman was the judge twice.

The format of the tournament is as close as possible to demonstration performances: the same duration of each performance, musical accompaniment, interesting costumes and plot - each skater has his own. For example, Anna Shcherbakova performed a number on the theme of the film “Seventeen Moments of Spring,” Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov presented “a football story,” Dmitry Aliev skated to a romance based on the poems of Sergei Yesenin. What the skaters and their coaches have prepared for us in the next season is still a mystery, as are the names of the judges.
