Description
The Ufa Arena Ice Palace was officially opened on August 27, 2007 with a match between the youth hockey teams of Russia and Canada. This ice stadium was built on the site of the former Trud Stadium. Where, in 1961, the newly assembled Salavat Yulaev hockey team began playing on natural open ice.
Less than a year later, on April 11, the home team of the Salavat Yulaev hockey club on the Ufa Arena ice won the decisive playoff match against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and became champions of Russia for the first time in history. It was built on the site of the Trud Stadium, where Salavat Yulaev played its first international matches in 1961.
The main arena accommodates more than 8000 spectators and consists of four tiers: the entrance to the sectors is through the second, third and fourth tiers. Between the second and fourth tiers there are VIP boxes, places for wheelchair users. In 2011, another ice field was built at the Ufa Arena - the Malaya Ufa Arena. The hockey field here is of standard size: 60 by 30 meters.
Over the years since the opening day, Ufa Arena has hosted many world-class sports competitions, including International Children's Games and the World Hockey Championship among youth teams.
Ufa Arena is not only a high—quality sports venue, but also a concert venue, where Russian and foreign stars perform.
The modern building of the Ufa Arena sports complex has become a real decoration of Ufa and has given a new impetus to the development of the infrastructure of Lenin Street, where it is located.
