Description

The Unipol Forum in Assago is one of the largest and most sought-after indoor arenas in Italy, located just three kilometers from Milan. The complex's capacity reaches 12,800, allowing it to host basketball, hockey, and tennis competitions, as well as large-scale music and entertainment events. In 2024, the venue received its current name thanks to a partnership with Unipol, which will last until 2027.

The arena opened in 1990 on the initiative of Giuseppe Cabassi and his son Luca. Over the years, the Forum has changed its name several times as part of various sponsorship agreements and has also undergone numerous renovations. A 2014 renovation increased the number of spectator seats, and a subsequent update in 2017 improved the navigation, design, and infrastructure of the interior spaces.

The complex occupies approximately 40,000 square meters and is part of the larger Milanofiori district. The arena's architecture is organized on four levels located around a central hall, and the upper tier includes SkyBoxes—areas with panoramic views for spectators and guests. The Forum received the 1994 European Architecture Prize for its design and became one of two Italian venues included in the prestigious European Arenas Association network.

For decades, it has hosted significant international tournaments and shows—from world championships in figure skating, hockey, and boxing to major basketball events, including the Euroleague. In 2026, the Unipol Forum will become an Olympic arena for figure skating and short track speed skating competitions.
